Rugby League is a wonderful sport that a lot of children and young adults enjoy playing. Not only is it a way of making many new friends, it a way for children to develop their fitness, flexibility, self-confidence, sportsmanship and life skill in general. Such skills include teamwork, listening, communication and leadership. For those with the appropriate talent, desire and work ethic, Rugby League provides pathways to achieve success at the elite level.

Rugby League also provides lots of opportunities for parents and guardians of children. Not only do you get to see children play, you can enjoy the many social events that occur in our club and you can participate as a volunteer.

At Asquith Rugby League Football Club, our commitment is to provide the opportunities for children and young adults to play Rugby League and for parents to be involved. We strive to do this in a safe, friendly environment for all.

In 2010, we will have teams in all Junior grades from Under 6 through to Under 17 and Senior grades of Under 19, A Reserve and A Grade.

Our Registration Fees continue to be at the lowest level and they are:

  1. Under 6 to Under 12 - $40.00 per player. For this the player will receive the Jersey, Shorts and Socks to keep. They will also receive much more throughout the season.
  2. Under 13 to Under 19 - $80.00 per player. For this the player will receive the Jersey, Socks and Shorts plus much more.

Asquith Rugby League Football Club provides skilled and accredited coaching staff and all of our trainers are League Safe accredited. All of our volunteers are asked to operate under not only the ARL Code of Conduct but our own club policy as well. All of this ensures that players develop their skills in a professional, friendly and safe environment.

We also commit a number of resources to the development of players. We have 2 development programs for different age groups as follows:

       Junior Emerging Talent Squad (JETS)

This is a development program for players in the grades Under 10 to Under 15. It provides extra coaching and development opportunities for Asquith players or for anyone outside of the Asquith Club who does not already play Rugby League. The aim of this program is to help players develop for when they move into the more competitive ages or for anyone who doesn’t currently play but would like to find out a bit more and test out whether they may like it. This program is totally voluntary. If you need to know more, ring Scott Schoenmaker on 0402033033.

       Magpies Emerging Talent Squad (METS)

This a development program for selected players in the grades under 14 to 17. It provides extra coaching and development opportunities for selected Asquith players who display the necessary attributes. This program is run by coach Paul Pollard (former Jim Beam Cup coach). If you are considering joining Asquith Magpies and you would like to know more about this program, please contact Paul on 0413441090.

So, if you would like to join the Mighty Magpies as a player, please download and complete the attached 2009 Registration Form and drop it off at the Asquith Leagues Club Reception. Someone will be in touch with you when it is received.

If you are interested in joining the Mighty Magpies as a volunteer (coach, team manager, trainer, canteen worker, barbeque worker or other official), you will be more than welcome. All our volunteers are provided with apparel, come to all the social events and presentations and have a great time. Please ring Football Club President Mike Mercer on 0412156194 if interested.

If you don't have time to be involved with the club as a volunteer, you can still become a fan of the Mighty Magpies. We tend to have Junior teams playing at Storey Park on most Saturdays (with breaks during school holidays) and on Sundays every couple of weeks. Come down and watch and be part of the excitement. We have a canteen and BBQ running on all game days. Keep your eye out for the weekly draws and results.
